"I’ve been on the path to being a therapist since I was 15; I understood that this would be the best way to channel my ability to hold space for someone else, while making them feel safe and heard. It has been a privilege to facilitate the healing process for my clients.
I have a trauma - informed approach, and am trained in cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), emotion focused therapy (EFT) , dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), and solution focused brief therapy (SFBT). I am also in the process of being trained in Internal Family Systems and Polyvagal Theory.
I think every individual is unique, each of our perspectives impacted by experiences and experiences by perspectives. I have had the privilege of living, studying and working in a variety of cities and countries, and observe the uniqueness of cultures but universality of emotions, thoughts and behaviour. It has helped me curate my approach, to communicate as clearly and empathetically I can, and to keep in mind the various intersections a client might be impacted by."

I specialize in mother’s health and well-being, helping them transform their stress through the regular changes that accompany motherhood. If a mum is not feeling well, this will affect their relationship with her children now and into the future. This relationship, and attachment are important for the child’s well-being as well.
I offer them evidence-based tools and resources to be at their best physically, mentally, and spiritually. They can be connected to themselves, so they can parent intentionally in a way that is aligned with their values.
Particularly for South Asian mothers, raising children in the West, one needs to really reflect upon the values to bring forth to our children being raised in a different culture. What our own mothers modeled for us may not work well for us, etc.

"Hello!!
My name is John Fen Raju (he/him) and I am from New Delhi, India. However, I am currently based in Nottingham, UK. I am a trainee Person-Centred psychotherapist at University of Nottingham doing my final year of training.
My area of interests are the following:
1. Understanding and inviting the attention of the global audiences on the South Asian perspectives and experiences in the world of counselling and psychotherapy .
2. Focus more specifically on Caste oppression as both a social variable and lived experience.
3. I want to advocate making the current theoretical frameworks and training modules, irrespective of the modality of approach, to be more inclusive and sensitive of the South Asian experiences and create spaces where Dalit perspectives could be heard and a conversation on caste can happen openly in the world of counselling and psychotherapy.
As part of my Master's thesis, this is exactly what I am doing my research on right now, where I am exploring how can Person-centred approach could be more inclusive of Dalit perspectives.
4.I also have an interest in understanding the experiences of South Asians who fall under the category of Severe and Multiple Disadvantages (SMD) in order to provide them with tailor-made support based on their complex-needs.
5. Finally, I want to understand and do advocacy on looking at both disability and neurodivergence within South Asian people."

I am the counsellor people choose when they need help with:
Life changes and transitions - We all face difficult life changing events. When these arise, counselling can be an effective way to process your feelings and work through any lingering thoughts and emotions. I can help and support those who have gone through or are going through major life changes such as relationship statues, Illness, loss of purpose, status or responsibility, any challenges that come with relocation or any changes or such adjustment that impacts your life in a significant way.
Work related issues - More and more people are finding it challenging to juggle work and home life demands. The situation we find ourselves mean we frequently have to deal with high levels of daily stress, which, not only negatively affects our emotional wellbeing, potentially resulting in anger, irritability, depression, and anxiety, but also our physical wellbeing. Finding ways to lower our stress levels and learning how to cope better is therefore extremely important for our overall health. I can support you with issues such as:
- Stress and anxiety
- Change at work
- The loss of a job
- Dealing with retirement
- Career change
- Redundancy
- Conflict
- Burnout
- Bullying.
Personal Development – Perhaps you may be doubting yourself, which is hindering your capabilities and would like to feel more empowered to achieve your full potential. Would you like to simply explore ways to take better care of yourself and live a happy and fulfilled life? I can provide support so you are able to achieve your goals. If you have concerns about any of the issues below which may be preventing you from living a more fulfilled life, get in touch.
- How you feel about yourself
- Feeling unworthy
- Feeling ashamed for not being like how you imagined yourself
- Self-doubt
- Self-care, resilience and coping mechanism
- Feeling judged
Expatriate & Cultural Counselling - Are you feeling homesick and struggling, or feeling lonely and isolated? Talking with an experienced counsellor about your reality and your situation can help you find ways of managing emotions and feelings.
Stress, anxiety and panic attacks - When we get stuck in the stress response due to feeling unsafe in our environment, it can potentially consume us to the point that we don’t see a way out and we feel engulfed by our anxiety. At times this can manifest as panic attacks. Anxiety can also manifest as OCD or you may be worried about your health and this results to health anxiety. If these issues are affecting your life, counselling can help. I help clients help understand the neurobiology of anxiety to help them understand why they are feeling the way they are, explore tools such as body scan and a variety of relaxation techniques, and help them discover tools that can help by working with them collaboratively so they are able to build a selfcare tool box custom made and unique for them.
Depression, loneliness and sleep issues – Are your feelings of sadness and low mood stopping you from leading your normal life and making everything harder to do and seem less worthwhile? Do you feel numb, empty, and that you can't see a way forward? Perhaps you feel isolated, lonely and trapped in your head and unable to talk about how you are truly feeling to anyone around you. Loneliness interferes with sound sleep and can be connected to feeling depressed. Depression is a very lonely and scary place to be stuck in. I can support you in finding your way out of this dark place.
Student life - You may be struggling in coping with academic expectations, feeling stressed and anxious or perhaps you are procrastinating. Maybe you feel like an imposter. The purpose of counselling is to support you to make your own choices and decisions and I can help you talk through your problems without judging you. Remember, talking to someone doesn't make you a failure. You can talk to me about anything that is troubling you or causing you emotional/psychological distress to help process your thoughts and emotions, and bring clarity for the way forward.
Anything else you want to share with us?: My approach - I offer a confidential, supportive and respectful space to enable you to explore your emotions and aspects of your life, openly and freely. I will support you to develop your awareness, empowering you to bring about effective change that you feel is right for you, so you can be the best person that you can be. As your counsellor, I can provide support in a personalised approach to emotional wellbeing and personal development, by being in tune with how you are feeling and by understanding your experiences. Sometimes it may be some clarity as well as self-compassion that will shift how you feel and respond to yourself. I will support you so that you can see a way forward and work towards a growing sense of inner peace and contentment, with more focus and clarity. The basis of my counselling practice is Person Centred which means my approach is non judgemental and I work with integrity, authenticity, empathy and compassion. In addition, I will use my experience and training in many different approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Transactional Analysis (TA) etc, and I can work creatively to ensure that my approach is flexible and tailored to the needs of each individual. I do not diagnose or categorise. My way of working is based on the idea that each person is an individual so one type of therapy doesn't fit everyone. Before my training as a counsellor, I trained as a Chartered Management Accountant and embarked on a career as a management consultant, dealing with change. While I was always drawn to the benefits of taking a logical approach, there has always been a side of myself that’s passionate about engaging with people, their experiences and supporting them to be their best. My experience informs me that a suitable environment can help people thrive. My career in the corporate world allowed me the opportunity to live and work abroad, which provided me with very good experience and exposure to a variety of people and cultures. I saw how other people struggled with challenges in their life. Coupled by the experience of my own challenges which allowed me the space that ignited my passion for helping and supporting others. I decided to embark on an introductory counselling course to explore if I'm suited to helping others with their emotional difficulties. At this stage I also engaged in personal therapy for myself. What better way to learn about therapy than to experience it myself? My own experience of talk therapy was transformative. I progressed to a further few years of study and this course also included taking on placements to start to put some of my learning into practice. My training and experience further helped me with the understanding of people and their feelings; and a desire to help them work through issues to come to an understanding of themselves; and why they might act and react in certain ways. I've been privileged to have been selected by clients from all walks of life to help them and I have gained over a thousand hours of supervised clinical practice.

Kavita Sekhsaria
KPS Psychotherapy is a private practice based in Maryland where I use a strengths based approach to help clients explore challenges, get to the root of problems, and identify healthy and sustainable paths forward. I particularly enjoy using my space to work with adults exploring how spirituality is impacting their wellbeing, and working with couples who are hoping to connect and communicate more genuinely.
I have experience collaborating with community partners on creating psycho-education materials to start conversations about stigma, what therapy is and how it can help, and how to use spiritual practices to cope with distress. If you’re interested in creating a workshop or consulting with me, please contact me for additional information. I am also happy to write pieces on any of these topics.

Hi! My name is Mona Laskar and I am a therapist and coach based in Sweden. I have a background in clinical psychology and CBT. I work to recognise and empower the mental health and well-being of individuals who identify as BIPOC.
Having been brought up in a Bengali/Indian Muslim family in a Nordic European culture, there are many mental health challenges faced by people who identify as BIPOC or South Asian. Finding adequate mental health support can become an additional challenge in terms of diversity and intersectionality as this is not always recognised in mainstream Western practices.
As a therapist, I therefore work to create a safe space for people of colour to feel respected, understood, and empowered to explore their inner potential for personal growth and well-being.
I use a strength-based and integrative method tailored to each client’s personal needs, strengths, and goals. I also continue to decolonise my practice, reflect on my own biases, and keep myself informed of evidence-based research to cultivate a safer space for my clients.
I offer online coaching, walk and talks, lectures, and social events on my website!

Tell us about what you are interested in and have specialisms in.: I am located in Brampton, Ontario, Canada and am currently working online due to the ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
In life and in therapy, I believe learning about yourself is crucial to growth and movement. Each therapy session provides space to look at your life in the context of the relationships you’re in, your histories, and the systems you come up against. I understand that thoughts, feelings, and behaviours all exist in the context of identity – that race, gender, sexuality, class, dis/ability, immigration status, etc. – can shift the way you experience, hold, and speak about your experiences and yourself. I work through a feminist, anti-oppressive lens.
My approach to therapy is warm, honest, playful and transparent. I will help you understand the processes of therapy and what might be going on for you. I want therapy to be useful, and I welcome honesty, feedback, and laughter in sessions. I understand that you are where you are right now and that we can make movement from there in ways that make sense to you.
I graduated with my Master’s in Counselling Psychology in 2017. For the last 5 years, I have worked with survivors of trauma – including people who have experienced sexual violence, familial violence, racial trauma, workplace trauma, and homophobia, among others – to address and process their experiences.
I use tools from many different therapeutic models and will weave them into our work, creating individualized treatment plans. The modalities I draw from include Polyvagal Theory, Structural Dissociation Theory, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Narrative Therapy, among others.
I have seen the benefits of therapy both as a therapist and as a client. I welcome the opportunity to connect with you through a free, 15 minute consultation. Here, we can speak and decide if therapy with me will be right for you. I offer sliding scale rates for a set number of clients – please inquire with me about this. I look forward to speaking with you!

Rupa Lal
Hello, I’m Rupa and my therapy practice is Tulsi Counselling and Psychotherapy. Many clients I see are struggling with changes in their lives. Whether this concerns family relationships, work, losing someone, illness, relationships, etc. The effects can be overwhelming both emotionally and physically. Anxiety, depression, fatigue, difficulty sleeping are just some of the effects of prolonged stress. Many share how problems have only increased during the pandemic and now struggling to cope without additional support.
I help clients to work through their issues by identifying some of the underlying patterns and dynamics which are contributing to the way they are feeling. I gently enquire about the emotional and physical experiences which are present. We explore healthier ways of relating to ourselves and others, promoting a sense of emotional stability.
Many clients I see are looking for a therapist from a similar cultural background, with an understanding of cultural norms and expectations. Being from a South Asian culture can present unique challenges, sometimes bringing up internal conflicts when trying to decide how to meet ones own needs as well as others. Tensions can arise when striving for a fulfilling and independent life . I work with clients towards a lasting change by exploring different ways of building resilience without feeling consumed and powerless. Over time clients share how they are able to make the choices that serve them best and offer a sense of hope and joy.
For in-person sessions, my practice is based in North Finchley, London UK. I also offer online and telephone sessions.

"My interest in individuals, groups, who want to understand how to reconnect to themselves. Creating a safe space that will allow them to think and feel about what’s going on in the moment, in the past to then look at what they want for their future.
Part of the process is for individuals to really understand they hold the choice/s to make the changes they want and or are focusing on. Taking back control is something I focus on with clients in the therapy sessions as this is key to the path of healing.
I work as an Integrative Counsellor & Psychotherapist.
I see clients on line using Zoom, Telephone & limited face to face sessions.
Working with most issues including Post Traumatic Stress.
I use Theatre as therapy, working non-verbally, with movement & include creative arts & writing. This model of working is with groups.
I work short term using a solution focused model and long term psychotherapy."

"As a bachelor graduate in psychology, I am interested in pursuing a graduate program in clinical psychology with a focus on mental health disorders. Specifically, my interests lie in the areas of mood and anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, dissociative disorders, and neurodevelopmental disorders.
Mood and anxiety disorders are a group of mental health conditions characterized by persistent feelings of sadness or worry, and can include disorders such as depression, generalized anxiety disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. I am interested in studying these disorders in order to better understand their underlying causes and effective treatment approaches.
Psychotic disorders, such as schizophrenia, involve a loss of contact with reality, including symptoms such as hallucinations and delusions. I find the study of these disorders to be fascinating, as they challenge our understanding of the human mind and require creative and innovative approaches to treatment.
Dissociative disorders, such as dissociative identity disorder, involve a disruption in an individual's sense of identity or consciousness. These disorders are often complex and difficult to diagnose and treat, and I am interested in learning more about them in order to better support individuals who experience these symptoms.
Lastly, my interest in neurodevelopmental disorders stems from a desire to better understand the impact of early developmental experiences on mental health and behavior. Conditions such as autism and ADHD can have a significant impact on an individual's quality of life, and I am interested in studying these disorders in order to better support individuals and families affected by them.
Overall, my interest in pursuing a graduate program in clinical psychology with a focus on these specific areas stems from a desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals struggling with mental health conditions."

Having studied and worked in Scotland for 11 years, then relocating to India in 2018, her identity is underpinned by 3 decades of cross-cultural cultural life experiences. This has shaped her understanding of and learning from diverse economical, socio-cultural and religious contexts to holistic health and congruent living.
Her approach to Therapy work is client-centred and outcome-focussed. Significant importance is given to the client's subjective account of familial, sociocultural and developmental influences to ill-health. Through intervention, these issues are addressed, re-framed and shifted from a dysfunctional to an adaptive or regulated state."

Tell us about what you are interested in and have specialisms in.: I am a licensed clinical psychologist with experience in a variety of settings including community mental health, university counseling and end-of-life psychotherapy. My clinical focus includes Grief and Loss: Society pushes us to grieve alone. Grief is not a linear process. We must remove the expectation that loss means we need to “feel better” and “move on”. I hope to be able to help you integrate the reality of your loss into your life. I believe that the relationship with your loved one can remain strong and can inform your living. Systemic Oppression, Race, Trauma: I practice from a feminist, decolonial, and relational lens. I am committed to advocating for those who feel "othered" by their identities. As an immigrant and a person of color, I have felt the strain of acculturative stress, systemic injustice. The current framework of "mental illness" tells us that we are the problem. You are not the problem. I hope to be able to liberate your suffering by engaging your inherent worthiness and enhancing your access to spaces that allow you to feel authentic and safe (rather than deficient, alone, wrong).
Anything else you want to share with us?: I identify as a cis gender, Muslim, South Asian, able bodied woman. I was born in Apartheid era South Africa and raised between Johannesburg and the unceded territory of the Tongva people, Southern California. I offer services only in English.
